PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

May 6 2024 to May 12 2024

Monday May 6

Friends

The final episode of 'Friends' aired 20 years ago today. Unlike many sitcoms, its popularity has endured; younger generations easily relate to the endearing characters and their close-knit bonds. As Saturn (resilience) and Pluto (transformation) form a testing alignment, we might find ourselves having to deal with interpersonal challenges. But if we remember the value of our friendships, and the joy they bring, we can strengthen bonds that last long into the future.

Tuesday May 7

Teachers

On National Teachers Day in the USA, it's appropriate that the Sun is forming an encouraging link with Saturn, the Cosmic Teacher. Hot on the heels of yesterday's Saturn/Pluto alignment - which focused on overcoming challenges, our learning focuses on perseverance. Today is also the anniversary of the premiere of Beethoven's 9th symphony - which is often considered his greatest work. When we keep going, the possibility of creating our own mini-masterpieces always exists!

Wednesday May 8

Disappearing Moon

As the Moon almost disappears from the sky, the cosmos reminds us that change doesn't always happen overnight. Its links with lucky Jupiter and innovative Uranus indicate that seeds of change planted now won't sprout like magic beans. It's by demonstrating resilience and believing in people's potential (despite the inevitable ups and downs) that lasting connections are made. If we're willing to invest in others today, the fruits of our work will be plentiful... and sweet.

Thursday May 9

Collisions with the Future

The philosopher Jose Ortega y Gasset, whose birthday is today, said "life is a series of collisions with the future; it's not the sum of what we've been, but what we yearn to be." It's a beautiful reminder that the obstacles we overcome help shape us into the person we become. As we bask in the energy of the New Moon, taking time to reflect on recent learnings brings the inspiration to find ways to transform yearnings for a better future into ideas that can start creating it.

Friday May 10

Truth and Reconciliation

Today marks 30 years since Mandela was sworn in as South Africa's first black president. He established the 'truth and reconciliation' council, where candid conversations and emotive testimonies helped the country move on from its difficult past. The approach wasn't without its problems. But it demonstrated that radical change doesn't need to be aggressive. As Mars and Uranus align and Venus links with Neptune this weekend, we can find peaceful ways of dealing with old problems.

Saturday May 11

Your Weekly Horoscope

This week as Mercury leaves its shadow, new ways of thinking crystallise. In sport, people are encouraged to visualise the success they want to achieve. And we all know that we need to try to be the change we wish to see; and to treat others as we'd like them to treat us. All these concepts combine optimistic thinking with positive action. And as the Sun moves to converge with Uranus, then Jupiter, if we set ourselves goals, and have an enthusiastic attitude, the results will be inspirational.

Sunday May 12
